Welcome to our Family History Library
This is the culmination of hundreds of hours of work.
It’s taken a lot to get to this point: ongoing research into different formats and ideal processes; cleaning up dust/dirt/mould/residue; converting dead formats with decades old computers and equipment; outsourcing what cannot be done at home; endless scanning scanning scanning; and the largest job of all: organizing it all chronologically and with tags.
It hasn’t been a perfect process—I’d do some things differently if I were starting again today—but ultimately I am happy to have everything in a viewable, accessible format for all of us to enjoy.
Thank you to everyone who has allowed us access to their personal collection to contribute to this library.
If you have access to any photos or movies that you could loan or donate to us to add to this library, it would be greatly appreciated both by us and by future generations!
Each image is (or will be) tagged with:
-
It’s origin collection (eg. “
#ROCHA; Antonio and Helena”) -
Each person in the photo (eg. “
👤 Amanda Rocha”) -
The event (eg. “
#MILKS Family Reunion” or “#AVERY; Morgan Baptism”)
ROCHA + MILKS
This has been (and continues to be) a massive project.
From February 2020 to March 2022 I scanned nearly 10,000 printed photos (including many duplicates), most of which were in random order.
Using burned-in dates, handwritten captions and any easily identifiable and date-able events (eg. birthday, christmas, baptism, wedding), we built up a database of dated images to compare against and are slowly figuring out where everything else goes.
Currently, the state of the photos in the Rocha library is:
-
2,788 chronologically sorted
-
3,484 unsorted, prepped
-
1,478 unsorted, unprepped [unavailable online]
-
13,494 unsorted digital photos [unavailable online]
AVERY + RANK
-
4,713 images
-
~1000 backlog to scan
